Faculty innovators and the medical technology community often have common challenges and questions: "I want to learn from someone who has done it already", "I've heard it's difficult for startups to be successful if they're not on the coast", "Where can I find a business mentor/clinician/engineer?",and "How do I find funding?"
UI Ventures presents a half-day event focusing on the challenges of developing university research-based medical products by providing education, and networking opportunities. The event will kick off with a panel discussion featuring business leaders and investors in the medtech space. Round table discussions will follow to cover fundamental areas as participants build the foundation of knowledge necessary to move their companies from the research lab into the commercialization phase of their discovery.
The second half of the afternoon will feature a keynote talk by Boston Scientific CEO Mike Mahoney discussing the ever-changing landscape of medtech. The event will conclude with a pitch competition featuring regional startups competing for a cash prize and a networking social mixer.
