All UI faculty, staff, postdocs, and students are invited to the Hawkeye Innovation Summit on April 23, 5:00-6:30pm for a reception and talk by Arthur Krieg, MD, titled "Shifting from R to D: The ABCs of translating a great scientific idea into a great startup."
Dr. Krieg's talk will cover how to identify research ideas with commercial value, and how to pitch your ideas to industry representatives. The session will include time for Q&A and a light reception for attendees.
About the Speaker
Dr. Krieg recently founded Checkmate Pharmaceuticals to develop novel oligonucleotides for cancer immunotherapy. Prior to that role, he co-founded RaNA Therapeutics and the Coley Pharmaceutical Group, which was acquired by Pfizer in 2008.
Dr. Krieg received his MD from Washington University and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He was a Staff Fellow at the NIH before becoming Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Iowa.
He has published more than 250 scientific papers and is an inventor on 48 issued patents covering oligonucleotide technologies.
